Imprivata Sets New Standard for Healthcare IT Security

Latest Release of OneSign® Delivers Clinical Workflow Enhancements with Fade to Lock™, No Click Access® for Citrix XenApp and Support for Epic 2012

Lexington, Mass., November 6, 2012 – Imprivata, the leader in healthcare IT security, has once again raised the workflow productivity bar, setting a new standard for secure, streamlined care provider access to Protected Health Information (PHI) with the latest release of its flagship product, OneSign.  Today Imprivata announced that OneSign now includes Fade to Lock™ enhanced walk-away security for shared workstations, OneSign Virtual Desktop Access for automated access to Citrix XenApp and the OneSign Connector for Epic 2012 for faster, easier authentication and single sign-on into Epic ambulatory and inpatient workflows.

“As paper-based healthcare organizations become automated Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), care providers can find themselves in a challenging transition when it comes to quickly and securely accessing the patient information they need when they need it,” said Omar Hussain, President and CEO, Imprivata. “Imprivata OneSign has helped more than 2 million physicians, nurses and hospital staff increase productivity by striking the balance between quick, easy access to patient information from any endpoint and compliance with strict privacy and security regulations.”

The latest release of Imprivata OneSign Single Sign-On and Authentication Management technology integrates into clinical workflows seamlessly and with unique features, including:

  • Fade to Lock uses OneSign Single Sign-On technology to identify when a provider is using the EMR or has exited to the desktop and applies different time-out policies to ensure privacy, without impacting workflow. By fading the screen prior to locking, providers that are still using the applications get a warning and simply tap the mouse to instantly return to the application. Without a tap, the PHI on the screen is protected from prying eyes and ultimately the desktop is secured.
  • OneSign Virtual Desktop Access for Citrx XenDesktop gives care providers No Click Access to the systems and applications they use every day. With faster and easier access to their most important productivity tools, healthcare professionals can spend more time focusing on patients and less time on technology. With this expanded coverage, OneSign Virtual Desktop Access now supports all major virtualization platforms: VMware View, Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix XenApp. Regardless of which virtualization strategy a healthcare delivery organization has selected, Imprivata streamlines access and provides a consistent user experience.
  • OneSign Connector for Epic 2012 helps hospitals to enhance their deployment and maximize their investment in Epic. As an Epic-approved, third-party vendor, Imprivata provides API-level integration enabling No Click Access for all Epic 2012 customers and their users. With the new OneSign Connector, hospitals with Epic systems can improve their Epic 2012 deployments with streamlined clinical workflows. Its integration capabilities provide a proven way to enable faster and easier authentication and single sign-on into EPIC ambulatory and inpatient workflows.

Care providers are well trained to log out of the EMR, but it is easy forget to log out of their desktop leaving PHI vulnerable to unauthorized access or accidental charting under the wrong ID. Imprivata’s new OneSign Single Sign-On technology with Fade to Lock identifies when a provider is using the EMR or has exited to the desktop and applies different time-out policies to ensure privacy, without impacting workflow or slowing patient care.
