Johns Hopkins Medicine Wins Imprivata’s Inaugural 2012 Healthcare Innovator of the Year Award

Exceptional implementation of Imprivata OneSign saves care providers more than 2,550 hours per month

January 7, 2013 – Lexington, Mass. Imprivata®, the leader in healthcare IT security, announces that Johns Hopkins Medicine has won its 2012 Healthcare Innovator of the Year Award for exceptional implementation of Imprivata OneSign to increase productivity and data security at the highly acclaimed new The Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center and Sheikh Zayed Tower at The John Hopkins Hospital. The project referred to as “Tap and Go” provides doctors, nurses and clinical staff with fast, secure access to electronic records, reducing their number of clicks and saving more than 2,550 hours per month. The award was presented at the Imprivata HealthCon 2012 User Conference.

“The Johns Hopkins information technology (IT) team is to be commended for listening closely to its care providers and analyzing their workflows. This in-depth understanding of the clinical environment has enabled the Johns Hopkins IT team to speed the care delivery process for their diverse and highly mobile workforce at the new The Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center and Sheikh Zayed Tower,” said Omar Hussain, president and CEO, Imprivata. “It is gratifying for us to see OneSign integrated throughout a facility being hailed as the blueprint for the hospital of the future.  Congratulations to the Johns Hopkins IT team!”

When the new facility opened on May 1st, care providers could tap their badges on readers to log in and out of their desktops at shared workstations. By integrated desktop virtualization, doctors and nurses were given the option for personalized desktops that follow them throughout the day and can be accessed from any endpoint.
