Death To Passwords - The Economics of Authentication

December 11, 2006 at 11:00 am
This is an online-only event.

For years, security professionals have been advocating “strong” passwords that have upper and lower case, mixed alpha numeric characters, are more than 8 characters long. The truth is that most people can’t remember these complicated passwords, and even the strongest passwords are not immune to today’s technologically advanced attacks, such as phishing and keystroke logging.

In this Webcast, Pete Lindstrom, Senior Analyst from Burton Group, will discuss the threat models for authentication and highlight the weaknesses in passwords. New techniques that address threat models more effectively than passwords, such as strong authentication and single sign-on will be explored. And recommendations will be made for deploying authentication methods that are more successful than passwords.

Guest speakers include Ken Puffer, Manager of Technology at the Valley Hospital, where hundreds of users are successfully using finger biometrics to authenticate, and Gregg Laroche, Director of Product Management at Imprivata.

If you have concerns about the risk and cost associated with passwords and are interested in exploring effective and affordable alternatives, don't miss this webcast.
