Directory vs. Database: In Search of the Optimal Identity and Access Management Architecture

This whitepaper examines the capabilities and limitations of persistent store technologies such as directories.   The paper demonstrate why IAM solutions must ensure that persistent store replicas maintain a consistent view of all objects across all nodes in order to properly enforce access policy across the enterprise.   The paper also addresses why extending the directory is not the ideal solution to ensure the integrity of critical state information necessary for time sensitive IAM applications.
