OneSign Authentication Management
What it is
Every desktop and workstation in your environment is a gateway to patient information. While security is a top priority, so is fast access for care providers. Imprivata OneSign® Authentication Management simplifies and secures access to physical and virtual desktops. User names and passwords are replaced with the tap of a badge or swipe of a fingerprint. Combine authentication management with single sign-on to enable No Click Access™ to desktops and applications.
Why it matters
There is a renewed focus on HIPAA due to HITECH, data breaches of a certain size are now public and OCR audits are happening. HIPAA and HITECH compliance needs to be taken seriously — but if enforced incorrectly, adoption could be impacted. Attesting to Meaningful Use requires both physician adoption of EMRs and compliance with HIPAA. By leveraging OneSign Authentication Management, your organization can become HIPAA-compliant without impacting EMR adoption.
Authentication occurs in many places beyond desktops and applications, such as application modules, order signing, documentation signing, medication reconciliation or ePrescribing. This requires care providers to enter a username along with password or PIN at many different places in their workflows. Let OneSign Authentication Management handle all points of authentication, give care providers a consistent user experience, increase their productivity and satisfaction, optimize clinical workflows and enhance care delivery.
How it works
Imprivata OneSign, an appliance-based solution, can be deployed as a physical or virtual appliance. It provides scalable and high-performance authentication management, whether providers are accessing the network locally or via VPN, or even working offline. All access is managed centrally without requiring changes to user directories such as Active Directory. With extensive out-of-the-box compliance reporting, you can easily meet HIPAA compliance by showing a record of who accessed what — and when, where and how access happened.
Healthcare IT is a complex environment with many different technologies and user needs. Ensuring you are balancing compliance with user needs requires flexibility. Imprivata supports more authentication modalities than any other vendor. Choose the modalities that meet the needs of your users: smart cards, active and passive proximity cards, finger biometrics, phone-based authentication, one-time passwords and/or USB tokens.
The OneSign ProveID™ API adds transaction-level strong authentication within any application's workflow. Whether the physician is signing an order or prescription, or the nurse is opening a med cabinet, it's as simple as a tap of a badge or swipe of a fingerprint. Think of it as convenience with security built in.
