Implementing an enterprise single sign-on and authentication management solution should be a major step towards improving your workflow efficiency, reducing helpdesk costs, simplifying password management for your end users, and increasing your network security.

But to make it as effective and valuable as it can be, planning for and implementing it the right way is a critical component of the overall solution. It will have a direct impact on how well the solution is embraced and adopted by your end-users and how well it adapts to and integrates with your organization and its workflows. As we all know, the level of success for an implementation is typically directly correlated to the level of planning involved.

Consider that while a single sign-on solution can appear simple and non-intrusive to the end-user, these solutions bring significant change to how the end-user interacts with their applications. Take a moment to consider your user base, and consider the typical questions you receive today. Now imagine if you change what they’ve done for a while.

While these solutions do make it better for the end‐users, and provide more security to your organization, you need to take them with you through the process, and assist them with the transition so they understand it, and embrace it.

The Imprivata Professional Services Group has developed an Implementation Methodology and set of best practices that leverage its extensive experience implementing Imprivata OneSign across various environments for its customers. This guide is designed to provide an overview of the key phases of a successful implementation as well as to provide an overview of the framework and disciplines required to achieve it.

Service Methodology

Services Methodology

Imprivata has delivered hundreds of implementations in numerous and varied environments across all industries.  We can help you realize the greatest return on investment from your purchase of Imprivata OneSign.  Since every customer is unique, our service packages can be tailored to your organization’s specific needs, including the customer’s involvement with the delivery of key project tasks.

Over the years, we have developed a best practices methodology to ensure rapid, successful product implementations, regardless of the operating or application environment.  Our six-phase delivery methodology ensures your organization’s implementation of Imprivata OneSign is a success.  The methodology phases are listed below and can be performed by Imprivata or a Certified Imprivata Services Partner in order to ensure a successful implementation:

  • Certification Training:The first phase of an Imprivata OneSign implementation project should include training for Imprivata OneSign administrators.
Application Readiness: During this phase we review the technical details of our customer’s environment, including application and authentication workflows, understanding the project’s timelines and understanding the success criteria you are seeking to achieve.
  • Enablement: In this phase, the appliances are installed and configured.   A majority of the time is spent profiling applications for Single Sign-On (SSO) and configuring end-user workflows.
  • End-User Testing: During this critical phase of the project we ensure that user adoption is a success once the product has been successfully tested, identified risks mitigated and confidence that the solution is ready for enterprise-wide deployment. Imprivata’s best practices include a two-week testing phase with a cross-functional representation of end‐users that will be using the system in production.
  • Full Deployment:Full deployment begins after all major issues discovered in the End-User Testing phase are resolved. During this phase, the agent is deployed out to the remaining machines in your enterprise.  End user and help desk training are key elements to ensuring a successful rollout of OneSign within your environment.
  • Post Deployment:  We help you evaluate your ever-changing infrastructure – new hardware purchases, new applications - and how to effectively integrate changes with our product.
