Imprivata is the Most Widely Selected Single Sign-On Solution by U.S. MEDITECH Customers according to HIMSS Analytics

Number of MEDITECH Customers Using Imprivata OneSign Increased 57 Percent since May 2012; Imprivata Customers to Lead Three Speaking Sessions at 2013 International MUSE Conference

Lexington, Mass.—May 29, 2013Imprivata®, a leading global provider of healthcare IT security solutions, today announced that it has the highest market share of any single sign-on (SSO) solution among U.S. hospitals with a MEDITECH electronic health record (EHR) system at 36 percent, according to the most recent data from HIMSS Analytics. The data also shows that the number of U.S. healthcare organizations integrating Imprivata OneSign® with their MEDITECH EHR system has increased by about 57 percent since May 2012.

One such hospital is Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains, N.J., a MEDITECH customer that relies on Imprivata OneSign to enable more than 1,400 physicians and nurses to quickly access 84 different applications to increase productivity and improve workflow efficiency. When Chilton implemented MEDITECH in 2011, its IT and clinical leadership recognized that it needed a solution to help balance the security requirements to protect patient data with the convenience of fast and easy access that care providers require.

“One of the particular areas we focused on was how to reduce the number of logins required by our clinicians to access the systems and information they need to better care for patients. While the input of additional credentials is important from a security perspective, we found that it tended to be a disruption to workflows,” said Mark Lederman, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Chilton Hospital. “The solution was Imprivata OneSign, and the results have been tremendous: We average about 70,000 logons to MEDITECH each week, so we estimate that Imprivata OneSign saves our clinicians up to 39 hours collectively every week, which allows them to spend more time focused on delivering quality patient care. With Imprivata OneSign, we have successfully struck that balance between security and convenience that we were after.”

Imprivata’s two factor authentication solutions and their benefits for MEDITECH customers will be the focus of three speaking sessions featuring Imprivata customers at the 2013 International MUSE Conference (May 28-31, 2013 at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.):

“The HIMSS Analytics market share data confirms that MEDITECH customers continue to rely on Imprivata to enable their clinicians to quickly and securely access patient information so they can focus on the delivery better patient care,” said Ed Gaudet, chief marketing officer at Imprivata. “While the HIMSS Analytics data is U.S.-specific, MEDITECH customers in Canada and other markets also continue to adopt Imprivata’s solutions, and we encourage anyone at the MUSE International Conference to attend our customers’ presentations to learn how Imprivata can help optimize data access and workflow efficiency in MEDITECH environments.”
