Imprivata Developer Program (IDP) Expands as OneSign No Click Access Becomes Authentication Standard for Virtual Desktop Environments in Healthcare

IDP Partners to Demonstrate Integrated Solutions throughout Citrix Synergy 2012 Barcelona

Lexington, Mass., October 15, 2012Imprivata®, the leader in healthcare IT security, announces strong demand from technology solution vendors for participation in its Imprivata Developer Program (IDP) which was introduced in February. Through the IDP, a range of third-party vendors are integrating OneSign authentication into their software and hardware solutions via a family of application programming interfaces (API) and software called OneSign ProveID™.  In particular thin and zero client manufacturers are turning to Imprivata to integrate their solutions with Imprivata OneSign’s No Click Access.  According to a recent survey, the healthcare industry’s swift adoption of desktop virtualization is expected to grow by 44% in 2013[1].

“In an industry challenged to raise the quality of care for entire populations, while at the same time drastically reducing costs, virtualization has changed the game by enabling the delivery of the right care at the right place at the right time,” said David Ting, Imprivata founder and CTO.  “OneSign ProveID allows thin and zero client manufacturers to incorporate seamless strong authentication into desktop roaming, making our joint solutions practical and simple for a workforce that is constantly on the move caring for patients.”

With Imprivata OneSign and desktop virtualization, authorized doctors, nurses and other caregivers can access patient data from anywhere with just the touch of a finger or the tap of a badge. As a user moves between workstations, PCs, thin or zero clients, the state of the virtual desktop is retained, removing the need to restart each application and streamlining access to patient information.  The combined solution eliminates password-related frustration and delivers electronic information to clinicians wherever they are, helping to speed the adoption of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.  Care providers are more productive and IT benefits from reduced maintenance and increased security through centrally stored data.  OneSign enables strong authentication across a wide range of operating systems, applications and devices with the broadest support of modalities, including fingerprint biometrics, proximity and smart cards, one-time passwords, and USB tokens.
