Henry Ford Health System's Radiology Services Implements Imprivata OneSign Single Sign-On

OneSign to Ease Password Management Issues and Improve Patient Safety at Detroit, Michigan-Based Healthcare Institution

Lexington, MA – February 27, 2008 Imprivata®, Inc., the converged identity and access management appliance company, announced today that Imprivata OneSign® Single Sign-On (SSO) solution has been deployed by the Radiology Services department at Henry Ford Health System. Henry Ford is one of the nation's leading health care providers, comprised of more than 17,000 full-time equivalent employees, including 3,000 nurses and more than 4,000 allied health professionals.

To ease the increasing problem of password proliferation and comply with government mandates such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Henry Ford sought out an SSO solution that was easy to deploy and maintain. With the help of VIOPOINT, a strategic solution provider that helps organizations identify, quantify and manage risk, Henry Ford Radiology Services has benefited from the successful deployment of Imprivata’s OneSign SSO solution.

“Our staff, which includes 1,000 end-users, was burdened to remember passwords for up to 20 applications. This struggle was eroding radiology SLA’s for Henry Ford, which logs 2.2 million patient visits annually,” said Darryl Bonner, Radiology Information Services with Henry Ford Health System. “Finding a solution that could solve our security and productivity issues was critical,” Bonner continued. “OneSign SSO enables fast and convenient login/logouts and password-related help desk calls have fallen dramatically.”

Henry Ford uses Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003, including its Radiology Information System (RIS) by IDX and Picture Archival and Communications System (PACS) by Sentor. “Imprivata OneSign SSO worked flawlessly with everything during installation, and was followed by an equally smooth rollout to end users,” stated Bonner.

“Hospitals are fast paced environments where seconds matter,” said Omar Hussain, president and CEO of Imprivata. “Imprivata OneSign was designed to understand and address the issues faced by our more than 250 healthcare customers, from regulatory compliance to workflows and access management issues. We are proud of the success Henry Ford has had with SSO and we are thrilled to help them in their goal of continuously providing the best patient care.”

Imprivata’s OneSign SSO is a part of the overall Imprivata OneSign platform, an authentication and access management solution conveniently packaged in an affordable and secure purpose-built appliance. OneSign offers an affordable way to achieve compliance while solving password management problems, reducing IT help desk costs and improving user productivity and security. The solution’s access management capabilities enable organizations to record and control who accesses what and when, helping to comply with government regulations. The OneSign platform includes OneSign Authentication Management (AM), which increases network security by replacing network access passwords with strong authentication options; OneSign Single Sign-On (SSO), which quickly and effectively solves password management, security and user access issues; and OneSign Physical/Logical, which integrates building and network access systems to enable location-based authentication.

“Patient safety is the number one priority for healthcare organizations and clinicians cannot be burdened with continuously logging in and out of applications,” said Rob Cote, VP of Sales and Marketing of VIOPOINT. “OneSign not only solves the password management issues plaguing healthcare systems like Henry Ford, but improves overall security so doctors and nurses can deliver the best possible care to patients.”
