Imprivata to Lead Discussion about Patient and Provider Authentication Challenges and the Internet of Things in Healthcare during Citrix Synergy

Lexington, Mass.—May 6, 2015—Imprivata® (NYSE: IMPR), the healthcare IT security company, today announced that CTO David Ting will lead a discussion about the Internet of Things in healthcare, including the associated data security and user authentication challenges, during Citrix Synergy (May 12-14, 2015 in Orlando, Fla.). The session will focus on the benefits of creating a network of IP-connected computers, sensors, and devices in which care providers and patients can share information. It will also emphasize the importance of provider and patient authentication to ensure data integrity and privacy as protected health information (PHI) moves from the hospital to the edge of care delivery.

The session (SYN242), titled “How the Internet of (Healthcare) Things will Revolutionize Patient Care,” will also feature David Bratt, IT director at Miami Children’s Health System, and Kurt Roemer, chief security strategist at Citrix. The panel will discuss how the Internet of Things has the potential to transform healthcare by minimizing the need for direct patient-physician interaction and enabling caregivers to utilize PHI from wearables for diagnosis and treatment. The session will also outline how virtualization, containerization, identity management, and secure networking can deliver both incremental and disruptive improvements while also providing a superior user experience.

At Citrix Synergy, Imprivata will also showcase its portfolio of leading solutions for authentication, access management, secure communications, and secure signing for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) in booth #407. Imprivata’s products will also be featured in several partner booths, including Citrix (booth #100-103), HP (booth #203), and IGEL (booth #304).
