Dr. Barry P Chaiken Joins Imprivata as Chief Medical Officer

Recognized Expert in Clinician Adoption of Information Technology and Patient Safety Brings Over 20 Years of Experience to the Healthcare Division

LEXINGTON, MA - February 23, 2010 - Imprivata®, Inc., the company that simplifies and secures user access, today announced the appointment of Barry P. Chaiken, MD, MPH, FHIMSS as the company’s chief medical officer. In this role, Dr. Chaiken will lend his considerable expertise to Imprivata’s new Global Healthcare Division, advising on product direction and driving strategic healthcare relationships and partnerships.

Dr. Chaiken has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare information technology, patient safety, clinical transformation and publilc health wiith extensive expertise in helping healthcare organizations utilize information technology to improve clinical and administrative activities. He is board certified in General Preventative Medicine and Public Health, as well as Healthcare Quality Management, and is currently a fellow serving as 2009-10 Board Chair of the Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS). He has worked on quality improvement studies and clinical investigations for the National Institutes of Health, UK's National Health Service and Boston University Medical School.

Dr. Chaiken additionally serves as the chief medical officer at DocsNetwork, Ltd., where he provides thought leadership and offers clients his expertise in clinical transformation and quality improvement. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, NYC, his masters in public health degree in health services administration from Harvard School of Public Health and his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Albany. Dr. Chaiken acquired his specialty training from the Centers for Disease Control as an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer and from the New Jersey State Department of Health as a preventative medicine resident. He also holds an appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health and Family Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine.
