Imprivata Announces Record 49 Percent Growth in 2011

Deadlines for Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and Increasing Demand for Fast Access to Patient Records Drive 103 Percent Growth in North American Healthcare Business

February 13, 2012 – Lexington, Mass. - Imprivata®, the leader in secure access and collaboration for healthcare, today announced that in 2011 the company saw growth of 49 percent year-over-year, with an impressive 103 percent increase in revenue coming from the healthcare industry. The substantial growth can be attributed to the accelerated adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) as facilities sharpen their focus on meeting Meaningful Use deadlines, as well as pressure from an increasingly mobile workforce for fast and secure access to Protected Health Information (PHI) on any electronic device.  As a result, demand for Imprivata OneSign single sign-on and access management solutions has been on a steep rise in an industry that must balance security with care provider productivity.

Supporting Imprivata’s revenue gains in 2011 was the addition of 160 healthcare customers, including recognized leaders such as Adventist Health in North America, NHS Scotland in Europe and Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Australia.   Additionally, 95 percent of Imprivata customers renewed their maintenance contracts, reinforcing customer satisfaction of the Imprivata solutions.  Longtime Imprivata customer Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick, ME, is one of many who have benefited from the ability of OneSign to speed EHR adoption and meet requirements for Meaningful Use set forth in the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) act. In September 2011, Parkview became the first hospital in Northern New England to receive HITECH incentive reimbursements - totaling $1.4 million - from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for meeting Stage One criteria of Meaningful Use.

“Imprivata helped us to meet our objectives for Meaningful Use while also keeping our physicians happy,” said Ted Lewis, MBA, FACHE, President, Parkview Adventist Medical Center. “Imprivata’s leadership in healthcare is a result of its deep understanding of clinician needs and workflows, and that’s been evident in our clinicians’ use of their products. At Parkview our goal is to make it as easy as possible for physicians to access patient data so they spend more time on patient care. That’s what Imprivata does.”

In addition to noted customer expansion and success, other Imprivata milestones in 2011 included organizational developments, notable industry recognition, and new products and partnerships that lay the foundation for solid continued growth in 2012.  Among the highlights are the following:

-          Over 40 percent employee growth

-          Opening of offices in France and Australia

-          Addition of Dr. Sean Kelly, distinguished Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center emergency physician, as Imprivata Chief Medical Officer

-          Imprivata OneSign named as the only healthcare vendor rated Strong Positive in 2011 Gartner Marketscope for Single Sign-on – second year in a row.

-           American Hospital Association (AHA) awarded its exclusive endorsement to lmprivata OneSign® Single Sign-On

-          Imprivata became the first healthcare IT vendor to provide No-Click Access™ to roaming desktops via thin and zero clients through integration with VMware View™ and Citrix XenDesktop®.

“Imprivata has become a critical component of the global healthcare IT infrastructure; for example in the US, we are helping hospitals quickly qualify for Meaningful Use reimbursements by making it easy for physicians to adopt electronic medical record systems,” said Omar Hussain, Imprivata President and CEO. "Data security requirements create barriers to access and collaboration in healthcare, where measures to protect electronic patient information disrupt workflows and add unnecessary clicks. By providing fast and secure access to patient information, Imprivata helps care providers enhance care delivery. Our mission: Enabling healthcare, securely.”

Imprivata solutions will be demonstrated at the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference, February 21-23, in Las Vegas at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Eleven Imprivata customers will be joining the company in the Imprivata booth to talk about how the implementation of the technology is helping them to speed EHR adoption.
