Imprivata and Mahaska Health Partnership to Reveal Action Plan for Achieving Meaningful Use

Webinar to Focus on Driving EMR Adoption and Increasing IT Security in Hospitals

LEXINGTON, Mass. — November 8, 2010— As hospitals strive to achieve the early stages of meaningful use in electronic medical records (EMR) implementations, Mahaska Health Partnership (MHP), an Oskaloosa, Iowa-based critical access hospital, has successfully streamlined clinical access to patient data while effectively addressing key mandates in the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. With the support of Imprivata’s OneSign®, implemented in March, Mahaska Health Partnership has driven widespread EMR adoption across its hospital, enabling clinicians to focus more time on delivering high-quality care to their patients and less on administrative tasks.

To help other hospitals seamlessly transition from paper to digital records, Kristi Roose, IT director at Mahaska Health Partnership and Barry Chaiken, M.D., chief medical officer at Imprivata, will be revealing their recommended action plans during a webinar on Wednesday, November 10 at 1:00 PM ET. During the discussion, Kristi and Dr. Chaiken will:

  • Explore how the regulations embedded in the HITECH Act, The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Red Flags Rule require IT teams to reevaluate existing privacy and security policies
  • Review some of the common obstacles to successful EMR rollouts and how to overcome them
  • Identify effective techniques that encourage clinical adoption
  • Explain how to utilize meaningful use as a guide, not a roadmap
  • Explore the role that finger biometrics and one time passwords OTP tokens can play in providing clinicians with fast access to application
  • Review how deploying single-sign on and strong authentication can enable hospitals to secure virtual and traditional computing environments and streamline clinician access to patient data

Quote:

Dr. Barry Chaiken, the chief medical officer, Imprivata
