Imprivata Expands Reach for Converged Security in Europe with Nedap

AEOS Physical Security System Integrates with OneSign Using Industry Standard Open APIs

LEXINGTON, MA - 7th October 2008 Imprivata®, Inc., the converged authentication and access management company, today announced that its OneSign Physical/Logical appliance has been certified to integrate with Nedap Security Management’s AEOS platform. Nedap’s connector for OneSign is the first to be built to Imprivata’s open Physical/Logical application programming interface (API) and will provide a converged physical and IT security solution for Nedap customers. The integration will be available from AEOS version 2.3 onwards.

Imprivata and Nedap partnered to create a connector that would provide a physical-logical access solution, addressing customer needs around comprehensive enterprise security, compliance and user authentication. The combined solution allows a user’s physical location, as determined by the Nedap AEOS system, to be a factor in granting access to the IT network. By creating this joint solution, Nedap and Imprivata can support customers with an easy-to-use and affordable total security system that seamlessly integrates existing facility and IT access infrastructure investments.

“Organizations today want to combine the power of their currently disparate security systems to get a complete overview of their company’s security posture,” said Omar Hussain, president and CEO of Imprivata, Inc. “We are pleased to be partnering with Nedap as they are a very strong player in the access control market in EMEA. The integration between Nedap’s AEOS system and Imprivata OneSign makes it simple for organisations to create and enforce policies across all their assets, and provides companies with an easy, affordable solution to their access and authentication requirements.”

“A converged security strategy doesn’t just increase the level of security required in order to access logical information. By combining the information from two systems and working at an infrastructure layer, it also improves the effectiveness of physical security across the organisation by ensuring employees authenticate into the door entry system, since that is required to get access to their workstations and applications,” continued Hussain.

Joris Lampe, managing director for Nedap Security Management in the Netherlands and Belgium. said: “Our vision is to provide our customers with one single platform that enables them to centrally manage their policies for physical and logical access. The future of security is not in proprietary boxes that require a lot of customization to be integrated in companies’ systems.”

Customer demand for open solutions that can be easily added to their IT infrastructure has increased over the last year, according to Lampe. “Imprivata is a clear pioneer in the convergence of user identity, network access and physical/logical security. The ability of the two solutions to interface seamlessly makes this a valuable partnership. The joint offering from Imprivata and Nedap will enable security managers to significantly raise the efficiency of their access control strategies across both physical and IT networks.”

AEOS is a powerful, user-friendly access control and security management system based on smart network technology. Using the latest IT technology, AEOS offers customers a reliable and future-oriented solution to all their security, people flow and business support issues, both now and in the future. For example, the open AEOS architecture allows for peer to peer communication between IP devices and configurable access point behaviour. Imprivata OneSign is an access and authentication management appliance that supports strong authentication, single sign-on, and integration with physical access systems.
