Imprivata OneSign Provides Wayne Memorial Hospital a Head Start in the Race for Electronic Medical Records

With Imprivata OneSign  Single Sign-On, Wayne Memorial Hospital Improves Patient Care, Increases Data Security and Closes in on Federal Incentive Dollars at the Finish Line

LEXINGTON, MA—February 8, 2010—Imprivata®, Inc., the employee access management company and largest provider of healthcare single sign-on (SSO), announced today that Wayne Memorial Hospital is successfully leveraging its Imprivata OneSign® Platform to ease the access burdens associated with electronic medical records (EMR). With Imprivata OneSign, Wayne Memorial Hospital has eliminated password management challenges, enabled fast access to data and strengthened the security of patient information.

Wayne Memorial Hospital is the third largest employer in Wayne County with 316 beds and a medical staff of 125physicians and dentists. Wayne Memorial’s clinicians and staff struggled to recall the many complex passwords required to log into their many applications and systems including MEDITECH 6.0, McKesson PACS, Nuance EWS, Kronos, NetLearning, OWA and RadNet. After evaluating several single sign-on products, Wayne Memorial selected OneSign SSO because of its easy deployment, ongoing maintenance and seamless integration with MEDITECH.

“Our role in IT is to facilitate the work of our care givers, while maintaining tight security measures,” states Lori Cole, chief information officer (CIO) of Wayne Memorial. “While providing patient records in an electronic format increases efficiency and patient safety, without easy access to that data, workflows are disrupted, doctors and nurses are frustrated and critical time is lost. For 5 years, Imprivata OneSign has provided authorized users with convenient, secure access to data in more than 40 applications.”

Imprivata OneSign simplifies end-user authentication to applications and makes it easier for care providers to access patient data. OneSign easily integrates with healthcare applications and includes support for shared workstations, roaming desktops, fast user switching, a broad range of integrated strong authentication options (proximity cards, finger biometrics, ID tokens) and password policy implementation and management. Centrally managed from a single administrative console, OneSign secures access across Windows, host-based, Citrix and virtual desktop environments. The solution reduces the complexity of complying with regulated access control requirements, and the costs associated with password management.

“Wayne Memorial Hospital was ahead of the curve when it moved to EMR,” said Omar Hussain, president and CEO of Imprivata. “As a result, Lori Cole and her team have already addressed the challenges that lie ahead for most healthcare organizations currently driven by the HITECH Act to meaningful use of EMR. I am proud of the fact that OneSign has played a key role in their transition to EMR and their overall success for the past 5 years.”
