Lexington, Mass.—December 2, 2014Imprivata® (NYSE: IMPR), a leading provider of authentication, access management and secure communications solutions for the healthcare industry, today introduced Imprivata OneSign® 5.0, the newest version of the company’s flagship authentication and access management solution.

Imprivata OneSign 5.0 delivers new features that allow customers to more quickly and cost-effectively extend the benefits of single sign-on, strong authentication and virtual desktop access to all end users. Imprivata OneSign 5.0 also enhances the value of desktop virtualization though integration with the broadest set of virtualization platforms, thin/zero clients, and infrastructure solutions from leading vendors, including Citrix, VMware, Dell, HP, IGEL, LG, Samsung, and Teradici.

“Imprivata OneSign 5.0 delivers a number of features that reinforce our strong value proposition in improving clinical workflow efficiency and increasing provider productivity for better focus on patient care”, said Chris Shaw, general manager of the Imprivata OneSign Products Group. “The new version allows organizations to more quickly and easily scale Imprivata OneSign across their user population, and Imprivata OneSign 5.0 also expands our market-leading virtual desktop access capabilities. Customers continue to deploy Imprivata OneSign in tandem with desktop virtualization to deliver fast, secure access to clinical applications and patient records at the point of care.”

In a research note titled “Desktop Virtualization Provides Value in Healthcare” (July 2, 2014), Gartner recommends that healthcare delivery organizations using desktop virtualization “integrate with appropriate single sign-on (SSO) and multifactor authentication (MFA) solutions (including proximity authentication) to improve clinical workflows, increase user productivity, ensure compliance and drive higher levels of employee satisfaction.”

“The combination of desktop virtualization and Imprivata OneSign gives our providers fast, secure access to the applications and information they need—whenever and wherever they need it—to deliver the highest-quality patient care possible,” said James Brummett, director of technical services at El Camino Hospital. “The integration between Imprivata OneSign and our zero clients further optimizes our virtual desktop environment by delivering a cohesive solution for providing users with the convenience they want while at the same time ensuring we meet HIPAA compliance and IT security requirements.”

In addition to expanded virtual desktop access capabilities, Imprivata OneSign 5.0 delivers a number of enhancements to make the solution easier to deploy and scale. Imprivata OneSign now offers rolling upgrades with no endpoint downtime, providing uninterrupted end-user access to Imprivata OneSign during upgrades, including use of thin and zero clients. The new version also introduces the ability to whitelist proximity cards to prevent users from self-enrolling unauthorized cards.

“We have relied on Imprivata OneSign for years as an integral component to our IT strategy to provide our caregivers with efficient access to clinical systems which allows them to keep their focus entirely on patient care,” said Jim Lowder, system vice president, technology at OhioHealth. “Imprivata continues to deliver new product features and enhancements that consider IT, security, compliance, and clinical workflow requirements, enabling us expand the use of Imprivata OneSign to thousands of users across our organization.”
