New survey shows deployments in healthcare set to outpace all other industries; Strong trend toward thin and zero client endpoints in hospitals is helping to drive rapid growth.

Today at VMworld® 2012, Imprivata®, the leader in secure access and collaboration for healthcare, announced that the power of Imprivata OneSign's No Click Access to roaming desktops via thin and zero clients will be the topic at customer sessions and product demonstrations throughout the conference in San Francisco this week.

Imprivata, a provider secure access and collaboration for the healthcare market, today released the results of a new survey of 500 IT decision-makers on the adoption and use of virtual desktop technologies in healthcare, according to a statement.  The survey found that adoption of desktop virtualization in hospitals is expected to grow by 44 percent in 2013 – a rate higher than all other industries covered in the survey.

On August 23, 2012 HHS released the final rule on Meaningful Use Stage 2.  Although a few of the thresholds were reduced from the preliminary ruling and some menu objectives were added the bar is still much higher than Stage 1 (see summary below).  Hospitals must meet 19 total objectives, 16 core and 3 out of 6 menu objectives. 

In reviewing the final rule and all the many blogs/articles about it I got to thinking about what it must be like for a hospital having to face planning how they will meet Meaningful Use Stage 2—all the change in workflows required, technology that needs to be implemented.  I’ve been following Meaningful Use since the original ARRA/HITECH bill was passed in 2009 and did a similar review of Stage 1 preliminary and final ruling when that was released--this just seems to be a bigger undertaking.  So, I thought, how can I help?  Well below are 5 tips if you are an eligible hospit
