Personal Password Vault

A personal password vault is a secure, private storage space where an individual can save and manage sensitive information used to authenticate to accounts, systems, applications, and other resources. Unlike a shared or corporate vault, a personal password vault is associated with one user and is intended for that person’s work-related secrets. Depending on the solution, it may store credentials, keys, login records, and other password and authentication secrets.

Personal password vaults help users protect sensitive information without relying on spreadsheets, browser notes, unsecured documents, or memory. A vault typically encrypts stored information and requires the user to authenticate before viewing or using it. This can improve password hygiene by supporting unique, complex passwords and reducing password reuse. A password manager or vault can also keep privileged assets organized and separate from ordinary personal files, which are not generally designed for storing credentials or other sensitive authentication information.

At the enterprise level, a personal password vault can help employees manage passwords and access information for the tools and technologies they use on the job.
